the easter picnic blanket

Dress: Forever 21 via Plato's Closet. Belt: Swap Shop!. Bracelet: gifted Kameleon bracelet. (I looove this bracelet.)

I've been on a bit of a Plato's Closet kick.
Last week I stopped in to sell some old purses and came across this little number.
I was instantly attracted to the colors, the print. It's a great little dress for a number of simple occasions: errands, lunch, bowling.
Granted I wore shorts underneath when I went bowling...

A friend called this one" an Easter picnic blanket".
Fine by me. I look (and feel!) fabulous.

yo momma

nothing says "happy mother's day!" like a coconut cream pie!
or tart, rather.
this would be considered a tart.
while I normally make this with pie dough, I had some graham crackers laying around and went with a graham crust instead.

I do love a good graham cracker crust.
and I also do love this recipe.
and so did my mom and all the lovely ladies at our mini mother's day gathering.
forgot to get your lovely momma a present? whip this up!
and even if you did get her a present, whip this up anyway!
it's creamy, gooey, delicious, and perfect for this delightful spring weather.
yum.

summer anticipation

Vest: Forever 21 via Plato's Closet. Shirt: Forever 21. Shorts: Target. Necklace: Charlotte Russe. Bracelet: Plato's Closet.

Some days the heat is so unbearable, I don’t even want to think about summer.
But other days I think “I can’t wait til June comes around so I can justify wearing all of my super-summer stuff!”.
Puh-leaze! I do not need justification.
I bought this shirt a couple of summers ago and its an instant mood booster, don’t you think??
Besides nothing says “summer sunshine!” like tie-dye. (And summer skank nail polish.)

And as for the vest? Plato’s Closet.
I’m a frequent seller, but a week ago I found some pretty neat things. This sunshine yellow vest and the snazzy bracelet to name a few.
This outfit is just fun. And I don’t need no stinkin’ summer to don a fun outfit!
And if the heat gets to be too much, just slip off that vest and hel-lo breeze!

orange you glad?

5 reasons I love an orange!

1. Perfect for sharing! Most of the time an orange serves as a snack I take to work with me. While I'm picking apart the segments, I can't help but peel off a segment and give it to any coworker that happens to be nearby. Have some vitamin C...on me!

2. Juicy! Like the wonderful Regina Spektor once said “so cheap and juicy!” granted she was talking about tangerines, but I digress.

3. Since they’re almost always in season (possibly more so in Florida), they’re abundant, cheap, and perfectly delicious. The way only an in-season fruit or vegetable can be. (kind of like corn, which is also in season, and so incredibly sweet and delectable. I am going astray again. Oranges! Oranges!).

4. I love the feeling of peeling an orange. Stay with me, here. I slice off both ends with a knife then cut right through the skin vertically, making sure not to cut through the meaty segments. I slide my finger in between the peel and the segments and keep sliding through until the peel comes off in one big piece. If the orange cooperates, anyway. Either way, I still love peeling an orange.

5. Like mentioned in number 1, vitamin C! also, high fiber! potassium! vitamin A!

One super healthy, sweet, perfect snack.

the self-esteem boost

I found this top many years ago at a Target and I instantly fell in love.
Til this day, every single time I wear it I get compliments.
It's a simple top that can be paired with a myriad of things: jeans, basic shorts, skirts. I've dressed it up, I've dressed it down.
Here I paired it with a pair of shorts I snagged up at a TJMaxx. They were the only one of its kind, just in my size, and I paid about $10 for them.
Gotta love that.
